So yesterday early morning, I decided to send me 1.5TB media server for a reboot. Normal practice, as sometimes the media server gets hung up. Recently, I had emptied about 170GB on it also, so I figured it would nice to get a fresh start. On it's way back up I heard this loud noise...
E04 - Cannot load Kernel
Yeah, that obviously can't be good. Sent it for another restart and it started successfully however it continued to say, "Now Booting..." After about 9 hours, I decided it was time to call tech-support. Of course that was when everything went bad, and I knew not to restart it at anytime, but I went ahead and sure enough the RAID 5 is not corrupt. Luckily there is a enough community support out there. Basically I will need to do a recovery through Ubuntu on my Mac (apparently the only way to do it is with a Mac), and to also do a firmware upgrade.
I've already got the parts ordered, just waiting for the stores to open up. Here's the part list
- 4xSATA Hard Drive Enclosures
- 2x1TB External HDD
